The Fine Arts program at Success Unlimited Academy is a cornerstone of creative expression, offering students a vibrant space to explore their talents and discover new ways to connect with the world around them. Through studio art, music, and drama, students are encouraged to let their creativity flourish, turning their passions into powerful forms of communication.

Our program is more than a set of classes—it’s a journey of discovery and growth. Students learn to take risks, embrace their creativity, and share their unique voices with the world. In doing so, they enrich the life of their community and prepare for a future where their artistry and confidence will shine brightly. We believe that the arts possess a unique ability to express the depths of the soul, offering creations that inspire appreciation for their imagination, beauty, and intellectual richness.

Opening Doors for Creativity and Artistic Abilities

Visual Arts

Our Visual Arts program fosters creativity and self-expression, allowing students to transform ideas into stunning works of art. Through exploration of diverse media and the study of influential artists, students refine their technical skills and develop their artistic voice. The program goes beyond technique, instilling perseverance, focus, and the confidence to take on new creative challenges.

What sets our program apart is its emphasis on craftsmanship and critical thinking. Students are pushed to grow, refining their problem-solving abilities and dedication to the creative process. The result is exceptional, gallery-worthy work that reflects their hard-earned talent. Many graduates pursue art in college, but all leave with the confidence to apply their creativity in any field.

SUA'S visual arts students have won awards and exhibited at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, SACS Gallery, Alabama National Fair, as well as AISA local, district and state competitions, as well as  other competitions.

Music/Choral

The music department affords students the opportunity to showcase their talents in numerous performances and competitions.  These students rehearse regularly and perform in several musical performances during the school year, as well as compete locally and statewide. The choral groups include:

  • SHINE Choir (We Inspire Light!) is comprised of sixth through eighth grade students, but combines with the SUA High School Singers for larger performances. They regularly sing at community and school events.

  • Honors Choir is an auditioned group for third through the sixth graders. They perform a variety of sacred and secular elementary choral music; and compete vocally.

  • SUA Singers, for auditioned middle and high school students, perform a variety of musical styles -- from folk songs and spirituals, to contemporary choral pieces and works of gospel.

  • B.O.S.S. (Best of Success Showcase) is an annual fundraiser and a themed variety show filled with dance routines, amazing costumes and show-stopping solos, duets and group presentations by students and staff.

IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST POSTER 2.png
Drama/Theater

SUA's drama and theater program is a stage where passion meets performance, and students discover the power of storytelling through voice, movement, and emotion. From the first audition to the final curtain call, students are immersed in every aspect of theater—acting, directing, set design, lighting, and costume creation. The energy is electric as the cast and crew collaborate to bring characters to life, tackling classic plays, modern dramas, and musical productions with equal enthusiasm. Through rehearsals and live performances, students build confidence, sharpen communication skills, and learn the importance of teamwork, timing, and presence.

More than just a creative outlet, the theater program is a transformative experience that challenges students to step out of their comfort zones and into bold new roles—on and off the stage. With mentorship from passionate instructors, students grow as artists and individuals, gaining a deeper appreciation for the performing arts. Annual productions draw in the school and local community, showcasing the incredible talent, dedication, and heart that define the program. For many, these experiences spark a lifelong love of the arts or lead to further study in college, but for all, theater becomes a place of expression, growth, and unforgettable memories.  Recent productions have included:

  • "High School Musical Jr."

  • "Jam Jar Sonnet"

  • "The Butler Did It "

  • "OZ, The Musical"

  •  "Robin Hood: The Musical"

  •  "Just Another High School Play"

  •  "A Christmas Extravaganza: The Musical"

  •  "Between Good and Evil"

  • "Once on This Island, Jr."

  • "The Importance of Being Earnest"

  • "Annie Jr."

SUA drama students have won recognition for their performances at AISA local, district and state competitions, as well as the Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival.
